About Us : History

GLLM will be 75 years old in 2013!

Green Lake Lutheran Ministries (GLLM) is an outdoor ministry of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). We have nearly 200 member congregations in southwest Minnesota and the Twin Cities.  We serve youth, adults, and families year-round at three separate camp locations - two in west central Minnesota, and one in northern Minnesota.

In 1992, Green Lake Bible Camp (GLBC) and Lutheran Camp Board (LCB) merged to form GLLM. Green Lake Bible Camp consisted of one camp by the same name, while Lutheran Camp Board consisted of Shores of St. Andrew (SSA), St. Andrew Village, Camp House, and some undeveloped property in the Canon River area. With the merger, the Canon river property was sold. This left three sites and four distinct camping opportunities. They are described as follows:

Green Lake Bible Camp:

Facilities include the historic chapel (seating for 250), Medayto Lodge, and Chrysalis House Retreat Center, which are all located on 62 acres of wooded land on the south shore of Green Lake in Spicer, Minnesota. The Chrysalis House is available for use by retreat groups and for special functions. It is a modern, comfortable and affordable retreat center providing year round camping and activities. There are adult rooms, student dorm rooms, meeting rooms/lounges, a large dining room and the New Vision Room (a large rec room/meeting room). Download the Chapel Brochure

Medayto Lodge:

Medayto Lodge is a large beautiful home that was recently moved onto the Green Lake Bible Camp property and opened for guests in 2007. It is a perfect facility for groups up to 22 who want an at-home feel during their meeting, retreat or family gathering.

Shores of St. Andrew:

Is a youth camp located on the shores of beautiful Lake Andrew near New London, Minnesota. The Shores of St. Andrew and St. Andrew Village facilities are located on the same 54 acres of woods and beach. There is a large lodge building with a newly renovated kitchen, dining room, and large recreation/chapel room. There are also 8 youth cabins that sleep 22, 3 staff cabins, and a retreat center cabin.

St. Andrew Village:

St. Andrew Village at the Shores of St. Andrew Bible Camp is a year-round facility designed for adults and families. There is a central lodge, which includes kitchen and dining facilities and meeting rooms. There are 20 sleeping rooms located in separate buildings, and a waterfront area. Whether you're looking for relaxation or adventure, this camp (which borders Sibley State Park) has something for you.

The recent addition of Marble Lutheran Church gives Shores/Village a chapel with seating for 150.
